| Liberal MP John van Dongen has lost his license. |
B.C's Top Law Enforcer Suspended from Driving 41 km/h Over Speed Limit.
John van Dongen, who is running for re-election as a Liberal in Abbotsford South, has been suspended from driving for receiving two traffic tickets. Two traffic tickets doesn't seem like much until you consider that his vehicle was speeding 41 km/h above the highways' speed limit! He's also received both tickets within the last year and a half.
In irony of all ironies Dongen is the minister of public safety.
Public Safety! Unfortunately for Dongen, BC highways require public safety too and this won't look too good on his resume. On top of this he's the B.C. Solicitor General (the province's top law enforcement official). Yet he is still running under the Liberals for a re-election.
Dongen said in an interview with CBC. "I fully recognize the importance of public safety and compliance with the law on our roads. The law applies equally to me as it does to everyone else and I strongly support that." He has mailed his license to the Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles (OSMV).
Our top law enforcer doesn't even have a driver license.
